Minecraft Command Block for Beginners: How to Get One and Use It

Follow my step by step instructions on how to obtain a command block (you won't find this special block in your regular creative inventory). Then I will show you how to program it to do all kinds of cool stuff!

Here's the schedule of what you will learn:

• Adjust game settings and get your very own command block

• Change the weather and time of day with the flip of a switch or push of a button

• Use the command block to teleport to another part of your Minecraft world

• Summon your favorite Minecraft mobs

• and perhaps most exciting of all.... supersize mobs and turn them into GIANTS!

Because this is a flexible schedule class, there are no meetings. Instead we will interact through messages and videos in the classroom.

Students will watch the tutorial and then try the technique in their own Minecraft world. Once you get it to work, share it with us in the classroom by posting a video or taking a screenshot. If you have any questions or issues, just reach out and let me know, and we’ll troubleshoot the problem together!

This class uses the bedrock edition of Minecraft (no Java edition). I will be using iPad for the tutorial but you are welcome to use any device with Minecraft Bedrock edition (Nintendo Switch, Android tablet………)

The class is best for those who have at least some basic experience with the Minecraft game. You should be comfortable placing blocks and moving around inside Minecraft.

Students will complete projects in their own Minecraft world and do not need to share gamertags. There is no realm or shared world for this class.
